About the Wine

Merryvale Vineyards is a family-owned Napa Valley winery dedicated to passionate winemaking and the fine art of living well. For the past 25 years Merryvale has been turning exceptional Napa Valley grapes into world class wine. Merryvale is world renowned for rich, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the iconic Bordeaux-style red blend, Profile, and everyday drinking, fruit driven brand, Starmont. Merryvale's historic building was the first winery built in the Napa Valley after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, and has become a must see attraction for visitors to the valley.

Merryvale’s St. Helena Estate Vineyard lies on an eastern ridge overlooking the Napa Valley at almost one thousand feet of elevation. Planted in 1997, this vineyard consistently delivers grapes that stand out for their plush fruit character, complexity and silky tannins.
Coming from the loamier part of their estate vineyard, this wine reflects the intensity and dark character that we get from this incredible site. With grapes selected from younger vines and the south facing block of this vineyard, this estate Cabernet is an example of a powerful style of wine that is also elegant and youthful.

Tasting Notes:
My favorite of the 2014 appellation releases, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Estate (80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot) is a beautiful, medium to full-bodied, balanced estate red that has copious amounts of blackcurrants, toasted spices, dried earth and lead pencil all emerging from the glass. With fine tannin and a great finish, it’s a terrific Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk today or cellared for another 10-15 years.
