Great Napa Valley Cabernet does not automatically cost $100
Bruce Devlin has been the winemaker at Ballentine Vineyards for over 20 years now, so he knows their vineyards intimately, which he uses to craft what is one of Napa’s most consistently underpriced Cabernet Sauvignons.
But, why is this stellar 100% Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon so inexpensive? Well, the prime located vineyards were purchased in 1906. Not only that, the entire estate was paid for in gold coins and has been operating continuously since prohibition. Let's say, they operate with far less overhead than most wineries!
Having such an extensive range of first-class vineyards to choose from, Bruce’s 2018 is a touchdown!
You are gonna be hard pressed to find a better Napa Cab of this caliber under $50.
Tasting Notes:
Boysenberry, blackberry, rose petals, tobacco and leather are the first impressions with this Cabernet. The wine has a lovely complexity and roundness which reminds us of blueberry compote with vanilla and graham cracker.
