2018 Shafer Vineyards Red Shoulder Chardonnay 750ml

When we opened a bottle, we knew right from the first pour it was offering something not seen much more in Napa. Clean, fresh, and pleasing on the palate, with a touch of 75% new French oak barrels and the rest done in stainless steel under natural non-malolactic fermentation and offering layers of tropical fruit and citrus notes along with honeydew and a hint of spicyness all structured and balanced by energetic acidity. This wine is fruit forward but reserved, powerful and elegant, refined yet intriguing.

Apple, cinnamon and nutmeg are complemented by toasted oak and lasting structure."
