Celebrating 150 years of production of wines, the Gras family's own Domaine Santa Duc has honed their craft and now create some of the finest Rhone wines you can find. The family acquired the Gigondas vineyards nearly 50 years ago, and with these 40+ year old Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mouvedre vines, they consistently pump out stellar berries which give character and depth to their impressive wine.
This wine reflects all of their vineyards in Gigondas. Its character is drawn from eight different places, expressed through four Rhone grape varieties, each one of them bringing its personality and complementarity, contributing to the overall picture. Certified Organic and Biodynamic cultivation practices along with a variety of distinct terroirs take these 7 hectares of vineyards to a level above other Rhone red wines.
Tasting Notes: Currently more floral and expressive on the nose than the 2018, although less concentrated, the 2019 Gigondas Aux Lieux-Dits boasts hints of peppery spice, garrigue, a hint of roses with tons of jammy blueberry and raspberry fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, silky and taut, striking a good balance between ripeness and acidity, particularly noticeable on the long, mouthwatering finish.
