About the Wine

Three generations of Bouviers have farmed vines in the Côte de Nuits, dating back to 1910 when Henri Bouvier founded the domaine in Marsannay. After forty years of growing the domaine’s reputation, his son René, for whom the domaine is named today, expanded the family’s vineyard holdings while continuing to focus his sights on the greater Côte de Nuits. The current leader, René’s son, Bernard, took over from his father in 1992 and has carried on the family legacy, all the while refining vinifications, implementing organic practices in the vines since 2009, and seeking to farm new and interesting terroirs.

Bouvier’s vineyards in Marsannay are premier cru caliber. The Bouvier name is synonymous with quality, and accessibility; they conscientiously farm high-quality vineyard holdings in lesser-known appellations, with the experience and talent only a century’s worth of winegrowing can allow.

Marsannay Les Longeroies is one of those select few up for consideration for premier cru status. It would be a fitting honor, especially for Régis Bouvier’s bottling.

• 50% whole-cluster fermentation

• Punchdowns and pumpovers

• Wines are raised for 12 months in barrel, with 20% new oak, and 6 months in stainless steel

• Bottled unfined and unfiltered

TASTING NOTES:

This old-vine rouge comes from what will one day be deemed a premier cru parcel, Les Longeroies—one of the two most respected vineyards here. It sits just below the other, Clos du Roy, and produces Régis's most elegant and bright Pinot, reminiscent of black cherries, black tea, and baking spices. Longeroies is among the most versatile red Burgundies and will pair with all kinds of fare, from wild mushroom polenta to roast chicken or quail, and it can also be aged for upwards of ten years.
