About the Wine

Domaine Durand is a family estate where 3 generations of passionate winegrowers work together, allying experience, tradition and modernity. Offering high-quality, authentic wines that are respectful and representative of their appellation is the Durand family’s philosophy. Located in the “Les Epsailles” hamlet, in the commune of Crézancy-en-Sancerre. Here marine calcareous sediment, rich in shells and little oysters give Sauvignon Blanc its true identity.

The domaine is situated on the banks of the Loire, to the North East of Bourges, the Sancerre vineyards extend over nearly 35 hectares and are comprised of 3 main soil types.

  • The ‘terres blanches’ - white earth - situated on the hills furthest to the West of Sancerre.
  • The ‘caillottes’ – pebbles – very stony, limestone soils.
  • The ‘terres argilo-silicieuses’ – clay and flints -  (East side of the vineyards)

These ancient marine soils are key to the expression of Sancerre wines. No where else in the world does Sauvignon Blanc deliver the refined flavors and fruit characteristics found in this appellation. Most of Durand's vineyards are situated amongst steep hills, lending a rugged appeal to the grapes. All fruit is hand harvested, hand sorted and grown using minimal intervention and organic farming practices.

Tasting Notes:

Pale gold colour with silver highlights.
