A brand new Pott wine, a red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from the Garcia Family’s Remedium vineyard. This is a vineyard project on Howell Mountain that Aaron has been involved with from the very start.
Pott was chosen to serve as winemaker at famed Right Bank house Château Troplong Mondot and later director of Château La Tour Figeac. He later went on to work as head winemaker for Quintessa before starting his own wine projects on Mount Veeder and Howell Mountain.
The vineyard sits at about 1500 feet on an escarpment of the prized Aiken Clay and Loam overlooking the valley to the South West. The ideal soil and perfect exposure allow the grapes to develop their deep, rich flavors which we then stack up, layer by layer in the blend. The site is also a stone’s throw from the Valley’s famous Linda Falls waterfall, whose slabs of blocky basalt were the inspiration for- and form the bedrock of – this wine.
He planted two thirds of it to Cabernet Sauvignon See clone and the last third – right at the edge of the escarpment – on his favorite Cabernet Franc clone Vieux Chateau Certan.
Howell Mountain has been getting a lot of well-deserved press recently. Rightfully so, Aaron imediately fell in love with the landscape when he started his winery 2004.
