1978 Ridge Montabello for the Win!

A really nice lineup from Saturday... the 05 Barbour was a fun bottle as I love the winery, but it was showing a little tired.

My first time tasting the Saxum Broken Stones bottling and I was pleasantly surprised. The wine has dark fruit with classic Syrah nuances - bacon, leather, pepper.

The Leroy was shut down and not showing much of anything. This is my 5th tasting this wine this year and I think it’s simply past it’s prime.

The 78 Ridge Montabello was showing very well! A little shut down at first but opened to show blueberry, boysenberry, black currants, and shaved cedar. Notes of chocolate hovered around the edge of the wine edging out moderate floral notes and crushed clove.
