1983s Galore!
Last nights highlights.
We started with the 91 La Jota Howell Mountain, which I called a 2010 Napa can with mountain fruit. This wine was so young and vibrant with hearty tannins, fresh black cherry, hints of lavender and cooking spice. Drinking wonderfully youthful.
The 1983 Jaboulet La Chapelle has long been a favorite wine of mine. Parker have it 83 points way back in the day and I could not disagree more. This particular bottle however wad showing a ton of bret which slowly dissipated reviling nuanced sour cherry and clove.
Of course the 1983 Dom Perignon was the wine of the night with quince, green apple, toasted almonds, honeysuckle, and a long finish of caramel.
