Le Pin vs Harlan
After tasting almost 150 Italian wines at Sucklings wine event yesterday we headed back to the club for some good old fashion Bordeaux and Cali Cab... obviously the 2001 Le Pin was a true treat and the wine of the night! The wine tasted so much like Harlan to me that we decided to pop a 09 Harlan for the compare and contrast. While the Harlan has much more fruit, the exotic nature of the fruit along with well integrated oak nuances and spice box were very similar to the le pin. We then did a duo of 94s with the Dominus and Far Niente. I felt the Dominus had the advantage by a hair, but both wines were superb and in a great drinking window. To cleanse our palate we popped a 90 DP that was, as always, stellar! I have come to the realization that vintage Dom Perignon is the best wine on the planet! Last but not least we had to pop a a 79 Tig in honor of all the Italian wines we had earlier in the day. All in all a very nice night!
